Swarm? What's a "Swarm?"
What's a "Swarm"?
More info on what a Swarm is is available on the main web site but, basically, it's a time and place where members of the list are gathered together in one place approximately once a year. Not all members are able to come, of course, so we try to vary the meeting place around North America from year to year. That way the gathering should be close enough to some people that it won't be a big expense and, so, people might be able to attend that wouldn't be able to otherwise. Plus we get the advantage of seeing diverse areas of the country each year.
Last year, the Swarm (click on the blue words to go to the details for Swarm 2007 page) was held the last weekend of September in the heart of Indiana Amish country, Shipshewana Indiana. We stayed at the Farmstead Inn, which is directly behind the world famous Yoders Department store and just a few minutes from Lollys Fabrics. You can see more about the town here: Shipshewana Discussions are on Our Quilting Beehive - The Buzz discussion group. I'll try to keep this up to date with the plans ...
In 2006, the Swarm was in Lancaster, Pennsylvania around the time of the Pennsylvania National Quilt Show
We stayed at Spruce Lane Lodge and Cottages, Lancaster, PA (717.393.1991 or 800.446.4901) and had a great time there.
